History of Glenbow Museum:The collection from the Glenbow Museum includes over a million objects, documents, photographs and artworks, making Glenbow one of the largest museums in western Canada. Glenbow Museum began with the remarkable vision of petroleum entrepreneur and lawyer Eric L. Harvie who came into his fortune when oil was discovered on the land to which he held the mineral rights to, with the discovery in Leduc in 1947 and in Redwater in 1949. With this prosperity, he decided to pursue his favourite passion — collecting — and simultaneously return some of his good fortune back to the region that had been so generous to him. Mr. Harvie's goal was to collect the objects representing the history and culture of Western Canada as well as from around the world. Eric L.Harvie (1892-1975) was the Glenbow Museum's founder and the West's most notable philanthropist. An icon in Alberta. We have the privlage to enjoy his good works today!

PERCUSSION FAMILY SOCIAL GROUP
Calling all Rhythm makers. Mix and Mingles has befriended a female musician who has had the amazing experience of being part of the Venice Beach Drum Phenomenon in Los Angeles for the past few years when visiting family there. Even though we do not have a beach in this area, we do have many open spaces and beautiful parks where we could bring a great drum group to play. We have percussion instruments of all kinds (or even other instruments) and create a wonderful musical and social happening. It is a great opportunity to connect with free spirited, artistic, expressive and passionate people. If you don't play then come and dance, prance and have fun.
They have been doing this in California for over 35 years. It's a beloved tradition that is good for the heart, soul and spirit.
A few of us who are the core have a nice spot on an acreage close to town where we are practicing our rhythms and beats to make sure we are sounding great before we take this to public places. We are beginning to sound pretty good and would love to add more players. Let us add some vibrancy and rhythmic culture to our summer. We hope to play in public by early July.
Please contact our organizer and musician at email@example.com if you'd like to get involved. Hope to hear from you. We meet every couple weeks to play, to socialize, and for a potluck.
